Introduction:
Hughes Escorts Communications Ltd. (HECL), a joint venture
between Hughes Network Systems (HNS) and Escorts Ltd. was formed
in 1992 with an objective to provide high quality turnkey satellite communications
solutions and outstanding service and support to Indian business and government
organizations. HECL has charted a mission to be the leader in providing end-to-end
networking solutions for corporate enterprises in India using state-of-the-art
satellite and terrestrial communication technologies.
HECL began providing VSAT (Very Small Aperture Terminal) satellite
communications services through its Hub Earth Station in Gurgaon (near Delhi)
in February 1995.
HECL is the most successful Wide Area Network (WAN) service
provider in India, serving more than 200 enterprise customers. The Comsys VSAT
report, the well respected industry source, named HECL as the largest VSAT service
provider in the Asia-Pacific region with over 6000 VSATs installed in more than
632 towns and cities in the country.
Today, with a clientele that covers 78% of the top 50 brands in India, HECL
is leading the market in moving away from simply selling and commissioning VSATs
to implementing enterprise-wide networking solutions such as ERP, ASP Services,
Messaging, Supply Chain Management, ATMs, File Broadcast/Multicast etc. and
can boast of the largest number of corporate subscribers covering the entire
spectrum of industry.
In line with a corporate mission of providing customers with an unmatched "Value
Proposition" in communication technology solutions and services, HECL has
started providing value-added services for premier Corporates under DiRECWAY's
Broadband, Global Education, Managed network & Retail services umbrella
through its KU band hub, which is situated adjacent to the Extended-C band hub
in Gurgaon.
HECL is the first company to introduce KU Band services via the GE-1A (GE Americom)
satellite, which is 4 times more powerful than the INSAT series hence promising
very high reliability and low-cost satellite communication.
HNS has demonstrated its confidence in the ability of HECL's experienced operations
and support team by giving HECL the mandate to provide training and technical
support to HNS VSAT customers in countries across Europe and Asia.
