Introduction: The real estate sector in India has assumed growing importance with the liberalization of the economy. The consequent increase in business opportunities and migration of the labor force has, in turn, increased the demand for commercial and housing space, especially rental housing. Interest in real estate has increased dramatically in recent years. In addition, approaches to real estate investment and financing continue to expand and evolve. These investments could include making a mortgage loan (as a lender) or purchasing publicly traded mortgage-backed securities (residential or commercial). This book prepares readers to understand the risks and rewards associated with many approaches that may be used when investing in and financing both residential and commercial real estate.
