Staffing at Apollo Hospitals

Rs. 2,000.00

Introduction:
In view of increasing attention to costs, hospital policy has resulted in reorganized nurse staffing, including few er RNs and the replacement of professional nurses with unlicensed assistive personnel. Hospital ad ministrators ex pected that this strategy would re duce hospital expenditures (Kunen, 1996; Norrish & Rundall, 2001). However, the evidence evaluated here suggests that reducing RNs may significantly de crease quality of care and in crease hospital costs and LOS. Decisions about nurse staffing levels should be based on sound evidence to en sure that appropriate numbers of skilled nursing staff are available to achieve safety standards and optimum patient outcomes.

Staffing is that part of the process of management which is concerned with acquiring, developing, employing, appraising, remunerating and retaining people so that right type of people are available at right positions and at right time in the organisation. In the simplest terms, staffing is ‘putting people to jobs’.

While some hiring managers cling to outdated stereotypes of “temp workers” who help out for a few busy days in the mailroom or fill in for a vacationing receptionist, today’s reality is much different. Many employees with highly sought-after expertise prefer to work through staffing firms—they thrive on the stimulation and challenge of diverse assignments. Others view temporary or contract work as a way to evaluate prospective employers or as a quicker way to get a permanent job.

The main aim of the project is to understand staffing at Apollo Hospitals.
